Packaging Lab Technician- Duncan, SC
The Packaging Lab Technician is responsible for multiple aspects of work in early conversations with customers for potential projects. The technician must prepare handmade samples of packages with or without product of various sizes and weighments. These samples cover the complete range of styles and machines that Company has its portfolio. The technician tests film characteristics, film sealing temperatures, film coefficients of friction, and product bridging tendencies. The technician is also responsible for determining bag sizes through product settling testing.
Manage sales team sample requests in a timely and professional manner.
Create sample bags with various films for all available styles, sizes, and weighments for the machinery produced by Company.
Label samples appropriately and process the samples for shipment.
Work with dry ice and other refrigeration methods as needed.
Work directly with the sales team and customers as appropriate.
Conduct film coefficient of friction tests.
Conduct film characteristic tests.
Conduct film sealing temperatures tests.
Test for product bridging.
Test for product settling.
Recommend bag sizes based on the tests conducted.
Properly document the results of all testing for retrieval when needed.

Train other engineers and technicians
Effectively cope with change; shift gears comfortably; decide and act without having the total picture; comfortably handle risk and uncertainty
Lead, facilitate, and manage continuous improvement initiatives

High School Diploma or equivalent. High proficiency in math and science.
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
Demonstrated effective critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving ability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to leverage for effective presentations.
Ability to work under pressure with deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn new applications without difficulty.
