Packaging Sales Engineering Manager - Greenville, SC

Summary Statement:

• Define and monitor the departmental structure to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

• Achieve human resource goals of sales engineering, including but not limited to hiring, training, mentoring and monitoring department associates.

• Formulate annual department objectives and assist the Vice President / General Manager to achieve the overall company goals.

• Formulate annual performance and growth objectives for assigned personnel and appraise their performance. Administer company compensation procedures.

• Facilitate new processes, tools, training and methodologies for department to ensure success within the department and across the company.

• Financial management: Monitor order entry performance, order entry margin and other department KPI’s. Recommend and implement to optimize performance.

• Oversee and manage the department operating budget.

• Serve with other department managers to facilitate relationships across departments in order to achieve the company goals and objectives.

MANAGEMENT OF PROJECT INITIATION AND DEFINITION:

• Participate in pre–order sales calls as needed.

• Coordinate sales support coverage and manage quoting processes and execution.

• Oversee resource planning, reporting, territories, objectives and communications for the sales engineering team.

• Provide pre-order sales support capacity.

MANAGEMENT OF ORDER EXECUTION:

• Facilitate processes and procedures to identify and manage customer requirements.

• Collaborate with sales, engineering, operations, finance and service to develop and implement order execution procedures to achieve customer and company goals.

• Monitor order targets including schedule, profit and risk and provide guidance to Sales Engineers.

• Provide sales engineering capacity relating to order execution (customer contact, design and project reviews, travel, customer visit coordination, margin tracking and customer satisfaction).

SALES AND PRODUCT PROGRAM:

• Assist with marketing our capabilities (application notices, field photos/videos, tradeshows, sales training, presentations, pricing tools and sales tools).

• Collect and provide input for product line improvements and future developments to the Product Manager.

• Observe and collect competitive technology and market information.

• Identify potential opportunities

• Develop account plans

• Build and maintain funnel

• Lead commercial activities at assigned accounts

• Define and identify customer buying influences

• Support and manage commercial solvency

• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a team of Sales / Customer Focus Team

• Responsible for hiring, on-boarding and retaining of properly qualified personnel, training, developing, mentoring and monitoring department associates.

• Formulate annual performance and growth objectives for assigned personnel and appraise their performance. Administer company compensation procedures.

• Experience in managing people and complexity in a multinational environment.

• PC and ERP business system skills to track project status and monitor performance.

• Extensive experience of managing complex projects with multi-national clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 10 years of experience with inside sales, or related sales experience preferred

• Extensive experience of packaging equipment used in the pharmaceutical industry.

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science or related field of study.
